- Part-time Organist job description | SOTB
Part-time Organist Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin is seeking an organist to fill our retiring organist’s shoes. We are a thriving congregation who takes our mission seriously (but we don’t take ourselves too seriously). Our sanctuary has a carefully maintained Dobson tracker organ, a nine foot Steinway grand piano, and a seven foot Steinway grand piano. Our church is located in northern Door County, Wisconsin, the Cape Cod of the Midwest and a community rich in the arts and scenic beauty. Our congregation loves music and appreciates our organ, sanctuary choir, and handbells. We host concerts throughout the year. We believe in a fair competitive salary and benefit structure. This position could expand into a full-time one as our pianist/choir director approaches retirement. Your position : Leading the congregation for hymns and liturgy during services on the organ or occasionally the piano. Preparing and playing preludes and postludes on the organ. Participating in a monthly Music and Worship meeting, helping to choose appropriate music as you collaborate with our choir director and pastor. Directing the Handbell Choir. Coordinating summer recital series, guest musicians, and concerts in collaboration with the Worship and Music team. Being a joyful team player and loving the work you do and the team you do it with. Your Knowledge and Training: Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent skill and experience. Good keyboard skills and knowledge of the Lutheran tradition. Good communication and social skills. Salary : $22,000-30,000 depending on experience. Part-time position will require about 15 to 20 hours a week. Please send a cover letter and curriculum vitae to gracefrossman@gmail.com . - Shepherd of the Bay Worship Times
Join us for worship Noontime Prayer Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church Holy God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal, have mercy on us. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.* On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Show us your mercy, O God, and grant us your salvation. Give us the joy of your saving help again, and sustain us with your bountiful Spirit. Give peace in all the world; for only in you can we live in safety. Keep the nations under your care, and guide us in the way of justice and truth. Let your way be known upon earth; your saving health among all nations. Let not the needy be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor be taken away. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and sustain me with your Holy Spirit. Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come before you. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. (Here Pastor will pray several prayers, concluding with the following:) Gracious Jesus, our Lord and our God, at this hour you bore our sins in your own body on the tree so that we, being dead to sin, might live unto righteousness. Have mercy upon us now and at the hour of our death, and grant to us, your servants, with all others who devoutly remember your blessed Passion, a holy and peaceful life in this world and, through your grace, eternal glory in the life to come; where, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you live and reign, God forever. Amen. Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God. Almighty God bless us, defend us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. From sundaysandseasons.com. Copyright © 2020 Augsburg Fortress.
