Sunday, September 19, 7-8 p.m. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Notes / Benefit Concert
Performing on two concert grand pianos, Judy and Carl Jackson will play a collection of pieces from "Carmen," music of Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Igor Stravinsky. An evocative and fiery Spanish Rhapsody and a Souvenir from Vienna, from the movie "IntermezzoÒ also will be featured, along with Variations on St. AnthonyÕs Chorale by Johannes Brahms and a lively Scherzo by Felix Mendelssohn. A surprise piece by the American composer Mel Bowker will round out the evening.

The free-will offering taken at this concert will benefit the young people of the Laotian community in Milwaukee, served by their pastor Phetsamone Vannavong, whose ELCA congregation Shepherd of the Bay supports throughout the year. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has once again generously partnered with us for this benefit concert.
